His first memory of radio was hearing Human League’s ‘Don’t You Want Me’ playing on the kitchen radio when he was 3 on the South Side of Chicago. Soon after, he was playing with his parents cassette recorder making his own radio shows. He met JC while at North Central College in Naperville where both were staffers on the student run radio station. Shap relocated to the Illinois Valley for a professional radio career in 2001. He started as an afternoon news man on Streator’s WSPL, and then progressed to nights on Q 97.7 & 103.3. It was there he was nicknamed ‘Happy Shappy.’ Another moniker was given on 100.9 FM Rocks! as JC coined him ‘The Encyclopedia of Rock’ for Shap’s vast knowledge of Rock and Roll. He also served as a morning Sidekick on the Cowboy Radio Experience on WALS-102. Shap can now be heard weekday mornings on 99-3 WAJK, Today’s Best Music.
“There’s a famous saying, ‘you get what you pay for,’ and it’s so true. You could look for the DJ with the lowest price, and they might work out just fine. But do you really want your wedding to be one of those ‘you get what you paid for’ moments? I want your wedding to be above and beyond what you paid for! I guarantee you won’t find a better DJ company for a better price in North Central Illinois!” – Jon Shap
